Frequently Asked Questions

  • No, we do not accept insurance. Instead of billing insurance, you pay a monthly fee to have direct access to your doctor. We can provide a wide range of primary care services with your membership. If you wish to use your insurance for labs or imaging, we can help you with that process. Grand Prairie Health operates with a monthly membership fee.

  • Insurance is not required to become a member of Grand Prairie Health, and we are glad to care for you with or without it.

However, we do recommend maintaining insurance coverage or the equivalent (health sharing/med sharing) for medical needs that fall beyond what we offer, such as hospitalizations, surgeries, or specialist care. While we do not bill insurance for our primary care services, having coverage for major medical needs is still advisable.

  • Even with “good” insurance, many patients still face high out-of-pocket costs—such as a $1,200 deductible—before coverage even begins. At Grand Prairie Health, we offer a more transparent and personal approach. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying for, with direct access to your doctor and no surprise bills.

Having insurance doesn’t always mean you’re getting great care. Our model focuses on time, access, and attention—things that traditional insurance plans often can’t guarantee.

  • Your monthly membership covers all your primary care visits, including routine checkups, follow-ups, and chronic care. If you need labs, imaging, or in-office medications (like a steroid or antibiotic injection), you'll only pay the discounted, cash-based rates we've negotiated for you.

And don’t worry—you’ll always know the cost upfront, with no surprise bills or hidden fees.

  • Yes, that’s one of the key advantages of being a member. Dr. Wagner can be reached by phone, text, or email during regular office hours, and is also available after hours for urgent concerns.

  • At this time, we only see patients who are members. A membership allows us to provide more personal, timely, and consistent care. We’d love to welcome you as a member if you're interested in joining!

  • Our clinic does not accept new patients seeking narcotic medications (e.g., morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, tramadol) for chronic pain. In keeping with updated CDC guidelines and safe prescribing practices, long-term opioid management is best handled by a dedicated pain specialist.

We also do not prescribe controlled sedatives such as benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Valium) for chronic anxiety.

For ADD/ADHD, we emphasize non-medication approaches such as lifestyle changes, therapy, and educational support. We very rarely prescribe stimulant medications (e.g., Ritalin, Adderall) and typically require specialist involvement before considering them.

Additionally, Dr. Wagner does not prescribe hormonal contraception.

  • There is no long-term commitment required. While we do ask patients to sign a basic patient agreement to outline expectations and clarify how the practice works, it does not include any financial obligation or time-based contract.

You are free to cancel your membership at any time, with no penalty. We believe patients should stay because they value the care—not because they’re locked into a contract.

  • Yes! Recent federal legislation passed in 2025 now allows patients to use both Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for Direct Primary Care (DPC) memberships.

This means you can use pre-tax dollars to cover your membership, making your care even more affordable and tax-efficient.

Starting January 1, 2026, DPC memberships are officially considered qualified medical expenses under the law.

  • Yes, we do! Telehealth is available for a variety of needs, including follow-ups, medication questions, and routine concerns. It’s a convenient way to stay connected with your doctor when an in-person visit isn’t necessary.

  • If you need to see a specialist or be admitted to the hospital, we’ll be here to help coordinate your care every step of the way. Whether it’s sending records, helping you prepare for a referral, or reviewing treatment plans, we’ll make sure you stay informed and supported.

  • We believe vaccinations are an important part of keeping your child healthy. At this time, we recommend visiting your local county health department for childhood immunizations.

  • We want you to feel completely comfortable before deciding to join our practice. That’s why we offer a free, no-obligation visit where you can meet the doctor, learn about how our clinic works, and ask any questions you might have. After your visit, you can decide if becoming a member of Grand Prairie Health is the right choice for you.
